Island Cruising send off for the Down Under Rally 2025
Island Cruising send off for the Down Under Rally 2025

Mel talking at the Island Cruising Rally SendoffMel had the opportunity to do a talk at the Australian sendoff for the Down Under Rally put together by Island Cruising NZ. As participants prepared to head off over the coming days Mel talked about Maintenance that could be done during their travels to ensure things go smoothly.

It was great to chat with the sailors before they headed off on what will be an incredible adventure. With a number of Pacific Nations on the Agenda for their vogages. As weather was looking fantastic for setting off, many were in the last stages of preparations.

We wish everyone a safe voyage and hope you all have a fantastic time!

As this was being held at the Boat Works in Queensland Mel headed up early to spend some time catching up with some of our Trade Customers in the region.  Not as many as hoped, thanks to rain slowing some of the driving in between.

What is a Rally?

A rally is all about having cruising adventures with friends heading in the same general direction.

Island Cruising & Down Under Rally takes this a step further. Our rallies include intensive pre-departure training to help ensure you feel confident and prepared on departure day. You can tap into some excellent discounts from our marine business partners. We support you on the passage with weather and tracking you on passage, help you find crew, assist with all the documentation and entry/exit formalities, provide detailed resources and destination information to save you lots of time doing all the research, provide assistance if you have any issues en-route, and we have fun events along the way and connect you with others heading in the same direction.

You can choose whether to cruise with the group or do your own thing and sail independently.

We welcome yachts and power boats on the rally.

Mel's Sailing Story
Mel's Sailing Story
The story is often told of how I was born early so Dad could do an Ocean Race. So just a few days into life I was taken to Middle Harbour Yacht Club to wave Dad off and visit what would be my club growing up.
