Allen Flying 11 Championship sees 3 clubs on the Podium

Mel attended the Flying 11’s representing Allen which was extremely exciting to be going as the main sponsor of their Championship. Mel had competed in a Flying 11 Nationals at RQYS so it brought back a lot of memories.
Congratulations to Nomad - Tyler Dransfield and Pearl Twomey 2020 Flying 11 National Champions from Manly 16ft Skiff Sailing Club who sailed a superb series. Congratulations also to General Lee - Darby Jones and Taj Waters from Belmont 16ft Skiff Club in 2nd place and Firefly - Luke Rogers and Rory Meehan from Royal Queensland Yachts Squadron the host club.
To have three clubs represented on the podium is a fantastic result for all involved in the Flying 11's. Having sponsored the class over a number of occasions it was great to see so many clubs represented as we stepped up to be the Title sponsor of the event.
It was a cliff hanger in the Girls’ Division of the Allen 2020 Flying 11 Nationals with final placings determined only in the last race of the regatta.
Congratulations to Chelsea Williams in Ondalay (1401) with Banjo Nicholson for being the top National Flying 11 female skipper for 2020 (and coming 8th in the overall championship); and to Sophie Hart and Bella Divola in Fanging (1406) for being the top National Flying 11 all-female team for 2020 (and coming 16th in the overall championship).
Prior to the last race, Georgia Steenson with Jadon Morris in Schmick (1404) had been the leading female skipper with an 8 point lead over Chelsea whilst in the all-female team category Rosie Sewell and Stella Hurley in Oasis (1315) had been leading Fanging by 12 points going into the last race. Fantastic racing from Ondalay and Fanging resulted in them placing third and fourth respectively sufficient to take out the top two female Flying 11 prizes. Schmick ended up 12th in the overall championship whilst Oasis came 17th.
A big thank you to Adam Rowlison who drove the RIB so Mel could focus on being a sponsor and getting thousands of photographs.
