Open QR Clutch
Evidence from tests is that the line does not wear after having been released. This because it has been designed to exert its grip on 4 sides of the rope, for a safer hold and a higher locking power.
Lines run freely with the handle closed, while jaws are locked open inside. To switch to clutching mode, press the button and activate the jaws.
QR clutch and DVJ jammer
From a mechanical point of view, the QR Clutch uses an improved machanics of the DVJ - Double V-Grip Jammers. Like the DVJ, also the QR distributes the wedges' grip on a wide surface and keeps pressure low on a wide section of the line. As a result potential line damage is reduced.
And on top of the DVJ, the QR enables the quick release of the line even under extreme loads. This is a key characteristics for racing boats' spi sheets, where locking off is occasionally needed.
